If you have been searching for “waking watch fund closed”, “is the waking watch replacement fund finished” or “government funding for fire alarms 2026” — you are in the right place.

What Happened to the Waking Watch Replacement Fund?

The Waking Watch Replacement Fund officially closed on 31st March 2026. The fund — which had supported hundreds of residential buildings across England in replacing costly human patrols with compliant wireless fire alarm systems — reached its allocation and was formally wound down.

But on 2nd April 2026, the Government announced a brand new £62.7 million Interim Measures Alarm Fund to replace it — running until 2035 via Homes England under the Remediation Acceleration Plan.

New Fund — Key Facts
Fund name: Interim Measures Alarm Fund
Total value: £62.7 million
Announced: 2nd April 2026
Duration: Running until 2035
Administered by: Homes England via the Cladding Safety Scheme
Replaces: Waking Watch Replacement Fund (closed 31 March 2026)

Is My Building Still Eligible for Funding?

If your building has unsafe cladding, is registered with the Cladding Safety Scheme, or is currently running a waking watch, you may be eligible for the new fund. The Interim Measures Alarm Fund is designed specifically to support buildings awaiting cladding remediation — the same buildings that previously benefited from the Waking Watch Replacement Fund.

Sysco Fire & Security can survey your building, assess your eligibility for the new fund, and provide a BAFE-certificated proposal within 48 hours — including the technical specifications and compliant survey documentation required for your grant application.

Why Every Week Still Matters

Every week your building continues to run waking watch is money that could fund a permanent compliant system. A waking watch at a medium-sized residential development costs £35,000 or more per week. A compliant wireless fire alarm system can often be installed and certified within days.

Sysco have replaced waking watch across four London developments in the last three months — 915 apartments, 17 buildings, 4,670+ wireless devices. These buildings no longer require waking watch. Their residents are protected by a compliant, automated system — and the buildings' owners are no longer paying tens of thousands of pounds a week for a temporary measure.
